Thomas lives and works in Gent, Belgium.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Source: <em><a href=\"http:\/\/thomasbyttebier.be\/blog\/less-css-mess\">Thomas Byttebier &#8211; Less CSS mess<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Using much of the killer coding philosophies of CSS wizard <a href=\"http:\/\/csswizardry.com\">Harry Roberts<\/a>, I found a way that\u2019s helped me keep the CSS for the web app I\u2019m currently working on manageable, understandable and above all: highly reusable. And as the app keeps evolving, the CSS doesn\u2019t get more complex. At most it only gets bigger, but that&#8217;s ok.<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s basically 5 things that helped me shape up the way I code my designs enormously:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>coding guidelines<\/li>\n<li>itcss<\/li>\n<li>namespaced CSS<\/li>\n<li>BEM<\/li>\n<li>and documentation in a front-end style guide.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Let me go over each of them briefly in the next paragraphs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thomas Byttebier is a freelance web designer creating minimalist and easy to use websites and user interfaces.
